Russell-Cooke recruits new specialists

Russell-Cooke continues to strengthen and broaden the expertise it offers by recently recruiting a new partner, four new solicitors and a barrister. This brings the number of fee earners to around 175, enhancing the firms' ability to service clients' needs across a number of practice areas.

Jeremy Sivyer joins Russell-Cooke as a partner in the commercial team. A former head of the commercial group at Simmons & Simmons, he is a well regarded figure known for his international work in emerging markets, particularly India and West Africa. He is the honorary legal adviser to the Business Council for Africa (Western and Southern) and was, until leaving Simmons & Simmons, co-head of their India group. His move comes at a time when Russell-Cooke is looking to raise the profile of its international commercial practice and Jeremy will add valuable skills and experience to the firm.

The litigation team have been joined by Barrister Tom Bradford, a specialist in public and administrative law. Tom has extensive experience in handling legal challenges to government organisations and other public bodies before the courts, tribunals and High Court and has conducted over a hundred judicial reviews. He most recently worked in-house with HMRC and the Treasury Solicitor.

Senior planning solicitor Alex Ground joins the commercial property group from Herbert Smith. Her clients have included a wide range of multi-national public and limited companies, landowners, property developers, local authorities as well as many senior investors and financial institutions. Her recruitment reflects the increasing transactional size and complexity of the teams' practice and she will assist the team meeting substantial and increasing client demand for specialist planning expertise.

Arshoo Singh, an experienced private client solicitor joining from Kingsley Napley LLP. Arshoo is a member of a number of professional legal panels such as Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Law Society's Private Client section, Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) and the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPs). She has worked on multi-million pound trusts and estates, complex tax issues and diverse probate and will disputes.

Claire Tipler, joins the commercial property group with experience in a wide range of commercial property transactions, ranging from multi-national retail developments to prime investment acquisitions and disposals. Claire was part of the in-house legal team at the Olympic Delivery Authority, advising on a range of property issues relating to the London 2012 Olympics including land acquisition, title issues and infrastructure.

Christopher Williams adds his experience to the litigation team, advising on a wide range of commercial litigation issues including contractual disputes, professional negligence, company and partnership law disputes. Chris has specific expertise in intellectual property disputes, with particular emphasis in the internet field of technology cases.
