About Fiona

Separating from a spouse or partner is often one of the most stressful events in a person’s life. My aim is to take a client through this journey with the support they need, using the best process for them. I am committed to constructive and dignified negotiations to settle cases and I work within a variety of processes to achieve a fair outcome.

Fiona has extensive experience in all aspects of family law. She frequently handles cases with an international element and which often involve high value financial claims in divorce, disputed arrangements with children (including re-location to other countries) and co-habitation and property disputes. She is noted for her expertise in finding solutions in difficult cases and reaching settlements.

Fiona is a leader in the field of family resolution. She is an accredited mediator and is trained to see children in mediation. She is experienced in dealing with hybrid, shuttle and cross-border mediations. She is also a collaborative practitioner and a family law arbitrator (both for finance and children). Fiona offers an FDR/early neutral evaluation service to assist and support parties to reach their own agreements.

Fiona sits part-time as a District Judge in the family and civil courts and has been elected to hear private children disputes between parents. This valuable insight and unique perspective into the workings of the courts directly benefits her family practice.

Fiona is personable and keen to resolve issues as quickly as possible. Her aim is to guide her clients, through what is often a complex process, using a method that suits the case in order to obtain the best outcome.

Fiona Read is incredibly sensitive and is a good negotiator. She is experienced in all dispute areas and is an absolute joy to work with.
