On 25 May 2018, data protection law will change with the introduction of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Brexit will not affect this – the UK will still be a member of the European Union at the date of implementation and the government plans to use the new Data Protection Bill to incorporate the GDPR into UK law.
