The Court of Protection (which is part of the High Court) deals with the financial and welfare matters of the most vulnerable members of society. We have a wealth of experience in assisting individuals and families who are often faced with difficult and emotional decisions.
A number of our private client lawyers regularly deal with Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPAs), deputyships or general advice on capacity.
We are also able to assist with disputed deputyship appointments, applications for statutory Wills, the registration of LPAs or EPAs and the approval of gifts
It is also sometimes the case that there is in fact no dispute but an application needs to be made to the Court of Protection, say for example for permission to sell a house in which a patient may have an interest. Again, we have considerable experience in making such applications.
