R v Shanly (2012)
Russell-Cooke's Regulation team, led by Peter Cadman and Matt Bosworth, were instructed by Michael Shanly (defendant) in the first criminal prosecution arising from the data stolen from HSBC bank (2010), relating to Swiss bank accounts and disclosed to the French authorities.
SRA v A Sheikh – SDT disciplinary proceedings
Allegations of racism, unfairness and challenges to SRA and SDT processes made by Respondent and a series of her representatives all comprehensively defeated. Respondent struck off Roll of Solicitors and full costs order made included interim costs order of £100,000 made by SDT.
Beresford & Smith –v- SRA (2009)
The Administrative Court of the High Court appeal lodged by two solicitors struck off from the Roll following proceedings brought at the SDT by the Russell-Cooke Regulation Team lead by Peter Cadman. The appeal issues were on issues of conflict of interest, professional misconduct and an appeal on the £1 million deductions made by the Appellants from the Miners Compensation Claims. The appeal was dismissed in its entirety following a hearing at the Admin Court.
Institute of Legal Executives
ILEX instructed Russell Cooke's Regulation Team to prosecute several cases of student members cheating in professional examinations. The case was prosecuted in the ILEX Disciplinary Tribunal and Appeal Tribunal.
R (FACT Ltd) –v- Cairns (2009)
Successful prosecution under the Fraud Act and Section 296 ZB CDPA 1988 by Russell-Cooke Regulation Team at Liverpool Crown Court of supplier of counterfeit “Dream Box” machine that replicated internet based coding of decoder cards used by such companies as British Sky Broadcasting in the provision of encrypted services. The Defendant was given a custodial sentence of 4 months.
