Introduction

Our 46-strong commercial property department is a close-knit team of commercial property lawyers and support staff with a strong reputation in its field and broad experience over the entire sector. To property developers and others in the field it offers a sophisticated legal expertise, in a client-focused and cost-senstive environment.

The team's experience and resources mean it is well-placed to undertake complicated, time-critical or high-value deals, including those requiring the management of multi-disciplinary teams.

Background

Our clients fall into two main categories: publicly-quoted companies and private investors and developers; and retail companies needing ongoing commercial property advice.

We deal with substantial transactions (in excess of £250m), as part of a mix of work which includes

portfolio acquisitions and disposals
the acquisition of sites for commercial, industrial, residential and mixed use
the grant, renewal and termination of leases and related matters
joint venture agreements, conditional sale and purchase contracts, auctions and options

The department is proactive and client-focused in its approach, with the resources to pull out all the stops if needed to complete a deal. Some clients will deal mainly with a single lawyer, others with a team which may include specialists from other areas of the practice.

People

Based in the firm's Bedford Row, Putney and Kingston offices, the department is headed by four senior commercial property lawyers, each with more than twenty years' experience of the market: Stephen Clarke, Peter Dawson, Jim Fairclough and Michael Maskey.
