Civil Partnership

From 5 December 2005, same-sex couples will be able to register their relationships under the Civil Partnership Act. Registering a relationship will provide the couple with range of rights and responsibilities akin to marriage. The legal implications of this new piece of legislation are far reaching. People

The family law department has teams in Putney (headed by Fiona Read), Kingston (headed by Thérèse Nichols) and Bedford Row (headed by Camilla Thornton). The department has a long-established and highly regarded team of family lawyers and has a strong reputation and wealth of experience across the family law sector.

Three of the team are qualified family mediators and all are members of specialist family organisations. We are also represented on professional panels, including the Lord Chancellor's child abduction panel.
