We are a team of four solicitors specialising in employment law. We work for both employees and employers,
which we think is good for our clients; it helps us see the big picture and anticipate the aims and actions
of the other side.
Many employment disputes are either resolved amicably or settled at an early stage, but if that is not possible, our experience and commercial awareness give the best chance of a positive outcome. Many of our clients are small businesses or creative partnerships. Recent changes in employment law are particularly significant for these firms. An occasional chat with a specialist employment lawyer is usually money well spent, if only to check that all the relevant procedures are being followed. If you have a problem at work which you have been unable to resolve yourself, whether as an employee or an employer, we are happy to discuss the issue with you briefly over the phone, free of charge, to assess whether you might benefit from further advice or representation. Age Discrimination Legislation prohibiting age discrimination has recently been introduced. You may not be aware that it is anticipated that this will generate more litigation than all the other discrimination legislation put together. Russell-Cooke held a brief seminar entitled ‘Age Discrimination: Are You Up To Date?’ which looked at the impact of the legislation on businesses and the steps employers can take in response to the changes. Please click here for the full notes from the seminar. Civil Partnership The new Civil Partnership Act will have a significant impact on pensions and other areas of employment law. Our new Civil Partnership page gives more information and looks at other implications of the Act. Click here to go to the Civil Partnership page. |
