Russell-Cooke is pleased to speaking at BIICL's (British Institute of International and Comparative Law) seminar - International Protection of Adults - the Current Legal Framework Under Scrutiny.
This seminar will explore progress made in the area of international protection of adults with impairment. Despite the 2000 Hague Convention, practical problems arise in cross-border scenarios, involving public policy and human rights considerations. On a practical level, private mandates are not accepted by financial institutions and there is no mechanism for enforcement.
Richard Frimston, partner and head of the private client group, joins leading practitioners and judges to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the current legal framework, prospects for future ratification of the 2000 Hague Convention, and initiatives of the European Parliament and Council of Europe to improve matters for European citizens.
