Several members of Russell-Cooke, including partners, solicitors, trainee solicitors and support staff, took part in the 7th annual London Legal Sponsored Walk for the London Legal Support Trust, on the evening of Monday 16th May 2011.
The event brought together over 5000 walkers from many law firms, barristers' chambers, courts and voluntary groups and was led by the Lord Chief Justice. All money raised goes to assist legal advice centres who provide vital services to vulnerable people and who are struggling from cuts to funding and legal aid. As Lord Neuberger, Master of the Rolls, said recently about the event, "The need for funds for legal advice has never been greater or more important."
The Russell-Cooke team raised over £2500, which included a generous firm donation of £750. The London weather was kind as our walkers, clad in bright white Russell-Cooke polo-shirts, made their way over the 10 kilometres from the Royal Courts of Justice, through St James Park, past Buckingham Palace and into Green Park, then around the Serpentine before returning down the Strand. The walk ended at the Law Society for some much needed liquid refreshment.
The Russell-Cooke team were all very proud to be involved in such an important and inspiring event and everyone really enjoyed the walk.
