Russell-Cooke partner and head of the regualtion team, Peter Cadman has been appointed Chair of the Investigating Committee of Nurses and Midwifery Council. Peter took up this appointment on 1 June 2012.
The Investigating Committee of Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC) is made up of nurses, midwives and other individuals outside the nursing professions. The committee decides whether there is a case to answer and whether to refer the case to the Conduct and Competence Committee or the Health Committee, ensuring fairness in regulating this area.
The committee essentially has two primary roles; firstly, to consider whether to make interim orders either suspension pending investigation/hearing or conditions on right to work; secondly, after investigation, to consider whether there is a case to answer and if so, whether to go to Conduct or Health hearings.
