On 12 December 2018, John Gould and Michael Stacey spoke on the professional conduct dilemmas facing solicitors to an audience of 150 including barristers, solicitors and judges at the Housing Law Practitioners' Association conference. The conference was held at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London.

The talk was focused around a case study concerning a solicitor who was asked to act for a disreputable landlord, including defending a group action brought by a group of disgruntled tenants. They covered a range of topics including sourcing work and referrals, duties the Court, taking unfair advantage of third parties, safeguarding confidential information, dishonesty and lack of integrity, and dealing with inappropriate behaviour at the Christmas party (including the duty to self-report).
