Elizabeth Fox, Stephen Small and Ed Cracknell in the property litigation team were recently instructed by Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust who discovered a group of unauthorised occupiers had set up a camp in one of the car parks within Alexandra Park. The trespassers started to fly-tip large quantities of material and were abusive and aggressive to the client's staff and members of the public.

Alexandra Park hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including music concerts, conventions and firework displays. The area occupied by the trespassers was required urgently as the organisers needed to begin setting up the fireworks display due to take place on 2 and 3 November, as well as a funfair situated on the car park in question. Upwards of 80,000 people are expected to attend the fireworks display.

The possession claim was started in the High Court on 23 October, and by 5pm the following day the trespassers had been evicted by High Court Enforcement Officers.

The case followed another successful removal of trespassers from Wimbledon Common and Putney Heath last month by the same team.

Our charity and social business team advises Alexandra Palace generally, and Clare Garbett provided input as to the charity's complex legal structure.
