We are fast approaching the end of the transitional period and moving towards a whole new immigration system from 1 January 2021. One of the major changes to affect businesses is that they will be required to sponsor EEA nationals (who have not applied under the EU Settlement Scheme) from 1 January 2021 to work for them in the UK, in addition to the existing sponsorship of non-EEA nationals. With a recent positive shift in the Government’s attitude in encouraging skilled workers to enter the UK, businesses may benefit from applying for their sponsor licence now.
