The European Parliament has published a new regulation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions within the internal market.

Changes to the law on copyright and design rights

There have been some interesting changes to intellectual property law during recent months, principally in the area of copyright and design rights. Two particularly noteworthy developments are:

'fair dealing' with a copyrighted work for the purposes of caricature, parody or pastiche will not infringe copyright in that work.
 
changes to the law on design rights which are particularly relevant for any business that creates original 3D designs.

Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill: improving transparency in UK companies

The Government has recently passed the ‘Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill’. The Bill introduces changes designed to increase transparency in the ownership and control of companies incorporated in the UK, including requiring UK companies to keep a publicly available register detailing the persons who have significant control over the company.
