Russell-Cooke has bucked the trend of falling trainee retention rates by recruiting 100% of its 2008 intake. A recent report by Legal Week showed that trainee retention rates had fallen to an average of 75% as a result of the economic downturn.
Jonathan Thornton, partner in charge of trainees, said:
"We put a great deal of work into ensuring we recruit the most talented candidates and make a significant investment in their training so it's only natural we want to retain them if we can. We are careful not to offer too many training contracts to give those who make it through the recruitment process the best chance of being offered a job when they finish. The 100% recruitment rate this year is a reflection on how well the firm weathered the economic downturn so far."
Russell-Cooke's eight 2010 qualifiers will take up roles in Private Client, Commercial property, Corporate and Commercial, Matrimonial, Employment, Commercial Litigation, Clinical Negligence and the French Department.
