Volunteering England's announcement of its merger with NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations) is just one of the number of mergers ongoing in the charity sector. Russell-Cooke is advising Volunteering England on its merger with NCVO.

Russell-Cooke is also advising on a number of other mergers in the charity sector that are now in the public domain, including SOVA's potential merger with Crime Reduction Initiatives. It has recently advised Parenting UK on its merger with Familylives, the Helplines Association with MHHP and on Brain Tumour UK's merger with the Joseph Foote Fundraising Trust, amongst others.

Russell-Cooke is also advising on a number of other mergers and restructurings which are not as yet in the public domain. This experience suggests that consolidation within the sector, anticipated at the beginning of the financial crisis and following the Government's public spending cuts, are now beginning to be implemented.

With further cuts anticipated in the forthcoming public spending review we expect the current consolidation to accelerate.

If you have any questions about mergers or restructurings then do please feel free to contact; Andrew Studd, James Sinclair Taylor, David Mears or Jane Klauber.
