Andrew Godfrey, partner in the private client group, has been elected committee member of the STEP Cross-Border Estates Global Special Interest Group (SIG) Steering Committee; commencing 1 January 2018.

The Cross-Border Estates Global SIG addresses estate planning and the administration of estates and successions across international borders. The group focuses on reconciling divergent inheritance rules between civil code jurisdictions, common law jurisdictions, and other systems of law, such as Sharia. The group aims to nurture expertise, promote best practice and champion the Cross-Border Estates specialist area.

Andrew commented “It’s a real honour to be elected onto this group. SIG provides an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas and supporting those working in this field. Thank you to all who voted for me, I look forward to working with the group in the New Year.”

Andrew advises families, individuals, charities, trustees and corporate entities on all aspects of private client law, with a particular focus on cross-border matters and related succession and tax advice.
