Shell, the long standing lessee of iconic Shell-Mex House on the Strand has this week put 160,000 square feet of office space on the market. Russell-Cooke's real estate team advise the freeholder on the management of office space and retail units at this London landmark, which their client purchased in 2013.

The Grade II listed building was for many years the London headquarters of Shell-Mex and BP, for which purpose it was originally built in 1930–31. Art deco in style, it boasts more than 550,000 square feet of floor space over 12 floors and features some of the largest floorplates in the West End at around 40,000 square feet per floor.

Real estate partner, Arnold Isaacson said "we are delighted to have worked on yet another iconic London building, with a rich history – I understand that Churchill used to stand on the roof to watch bombs drop over the capital! It is hugely satisfying to work as an integral part of our client's team, helping to manage one of the capital's landmark buildings so that it meets the needs of contemporary occupiers."
