Gareth Ledsham advised on a high value Inheritance Act claim brought by the same-sex cohabiting partner of a high profile businessman who died suddenly making no financial provision at all for claimant in his will, which had been drawn up some 25 years previously and had not been updated.

The claim, which involved complex questions as to the proper level of maintenance for a cohabiting partner of working age but who was wholly maintained by the deceased, was settled on favourable terms at mediation.
