We acted for the deceased's longstanding cohabitant in a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, in a matter where the deceased had remarried his ex-wife whilst affected by a terminal illness.

Our client had cared for the deceased throughout his illness and he returned to live with her following his marriage to his ex-wife.  Other claims were considered, for example a challenge to the validity of the marriage or of the Will, but we advised that the I(PFD)A 1975 would provide the best options for our client in her circumstances.

A favourable result was achieved at mediation.
