Lucy's client suffered a haemorrhage after giving birth, losing more than half her blood volume.  It was alleged that this was caused by negligence on the part of a midwife, who was aware that part of the placenta appeared to be missing following the birth but did not pass this information on to obstetric staff.

The claimant developed a psychiatric 'adjustment disorder' following these events, involving nightmares, anxiety and intrusive memories of what had happened.  A settlement was agreed at £21,000.
