Acting for the SRA in a successful application in the chancery division to clarify the scope of the SRA's power to destroy documents held following intervention into solicitors' firms, which is not addressed in the relevant statutes. We argued, and the Court accepted, that the SRA may destroy documents it holds as they fall due for destruction under the terms of the SRA's document destruction policy. As a result of the application the SRA was able to destroy 1.5 million files saving £344,000 per year in storage costs.
