Julie Man has contributed to the Perspectives column in the second 2024 issue of STEP Journal which discusses global trends in philanthropy.

The article describes how the attitudes of the world’s wealthiest to pursuing sustainable investment have shifted in recent years, especially against the backdrop of major world events such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. Julie comments on the role advisors can play in engaging in the sometimes-difficult subject of philanthropy with their clients.

These events have resulted in a huge outpouring of support, with many philanthropic responses. It is human nature, when people see suffering… to want to feel empowered to help and be proactive. Clients have therefore been more aware and advisors have needed to be involved in guiding clients on how they can help and respond.
