Russell-Cooke has contributed to a guide for non-executive directors produced by Resilience First.

Resilience First, in partnership with Pool Re, has just published the second edition of the digital Guide for Non-Executive Directors on Operational Resilience.

The report delivers essential information to assist with Board discussions on resilience broken down into People, Place, Preparation, Process and Performance. A number of Russell-Cooke contributors wrote the section on Place.

Resilience First is a not-for-profit membership organisation with the mission to ‘improve urban resilience for business communities in the UK and beyond’. It originated from the Security and Resilience Network at London First. Russell-Cooke has been a member since 2018 and has previously contributed to a report on the return to the workplace for SMEs.

The contributors were consultant Emma Shipp from the corporate and commercial team and partners Jason Hunter and Ed Cracknell from the property litigation team.

Consultant Emma Shipp said: “The oversight, challenge and support that NEDs bring to a business is more important than ever with pressures coming from all sides in today's commercial landscape. A NED can bring a different voice to the board and a wealth of experience which makes them invaluable at spotting opportunities as well as mitigating risks. Resilience will be a key concern for NEDs who take the long view of the viability of a business and, where business premises are concerned, will be keen to ensure flexibility is baked in to the greatest extent possible.”

The report was launched on 7 July 2022.
