Russell Cooke’s Senior Partner, John Gould, was a panellist and speaker at the Westminster Policy Forum's keynote seminar "The future of legal services in England and Wales – regulatory reform, consumer protection and responding to innovation". John was the only solicitor in private practice who spoke to an audience mainly composed of senior regulators and representatives of Government.
John's particular focus was on the need for innovation and regulatory change to improve public access to affordable legal services. Better informed consumer choice needed to be the engine of change through markets which operated more efficiently thanks to ever improving technology. New entrants to the market were on closer examination only innovative in terms of their "packaging". It would be innovative and dynamic established firms who would effect real improvements given the right regulatory conditions.
John is a regulatory and public law specialist and the author of the "authoritative" Law of Legal Services and Practice (LexisNexis 2nd Edition 2019).
