The claimant was an inpatient in December 2011 at Barts NHS Trust for treatment of bronchiectasis. As part of this treatment she was prescribed intravenous gentamicin during this period but the levels of gentamicin administered were not known as drug charts had gone missing.
The claimant suffered irreversible ototoxicity, including vestibular and auditory damage due to the claimant’s dizziness and swaying and loss of balance which was permanent and irreversible. The claimant suffered secondary damage through falls and remained at risk of further falls in the future.
