Acting for the SRA in disciplinary proceedings relating to Professor Shiner's handling of claims of murder and torture against British forces in Iraq which were the subject of the Al Sweady Inquiry. The Inquiry found that the very serious allegations were false and based on lies.

The case has been very widely covered in the national press and television. The SDT concluded with Professor Shiner being found guilty of serious professional misconduct, struck-off and ordered to pay the SRA's costs (including a £250,000 interim payment).
