About Matilda

Housing disputes can be complex and stressful. As an experienced housing lawyer, my role is to offer my clients a personalised approach to help them navigate their case in an informed and practical way from the start to the end.

Matilda specialises in all aspects of housing and landlord and tenant litigation, and has a particular expertise in complex homelessness cases which involve reviews/appeals relating to local authority housing decisions.

She litigates across a broad range of areas of housing work including possession claims, illegal eviction, injunctions, disrepair, nuisance, tenancy deposit issues and judicial review.

With a strong background in legal aid, Matilda is known as a leader in the field of complex homelessness cases. She is able to work well with a diverse range of clients from individuals to housing associations and gain their confidence and trust. She is extremely approachable but also tenacious when dealing with housing matters.

Matilda has a keen interest in diversity in the profession and the history of the early women lawyers. She was involved with the Association of Women Solicitors for many years.

Matilda qualified in 2000, joining Alan Edwards & Co in 2002. She joined Russell-Cooke in September 2015 upon the merger of the two firms.

Matilda Rubens was exceptionally professional handling our case. She is a knowledgeable and experienced solicitor one can fully trust.

She was exceptional from start to finish. I appreciate that she was always available and helped me even when the language barrier was difficult. She showed a very personal approach and I felt that she built rapport with me very easily.
