Victoria is an associate in the charity and social business team. She assists charities, social businesses and other third sector organisations with all aspects of governance and commercial law.

Her expertise include constitutional and governance matters, incorporation and mergers, regulatory matters involving the Charity Commission, establishing and registering new charities (of all structures).

She also advises on data protection including preparations for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and matters involving the Information Commissioner’s Office, trading and fundraising, intellectual property, commercial contracts and other agreements.

Prior to joining Russell-Cooke in 2012, Victoria trained at a London city law firm with a specialism in charity. Victoria has a strong background in and experience of working at membership organisations.

  • Applications to the Charity Commission for schemes and orders and other regulatory consents

  • Advising charities where there are trustee disputes

  • Assisting charities with pre-investigation queries by the Charity Commission

  • Advising on intellectual property ownership and associated agreements

  • Registering trademarks including for BookTrust and Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland

  • Mergers including Mentor Foundation UK on its merger with Angelus Foundation, Meningitis UK and Meningitis Trust rebranded as Meningitis Now and the merger between The Shaw Trust and  Disabled Living Foundation

  • Assisting community interest companies converting into charities including Paladin National Stalking Advocacy Service and Starfish Group

  • Assisting Clinks with the Transforming Rehabilitation and providing contractual advice to a number of charities on the Industry Standard Partnering Agreement

  • Advising a household named charity on a substantial contract including 14 subcontracts

  • Advising a range of charities on their commercial and fundraising activities including CoppaFeel!

  • Establishing trading subsidiaries and advising on the relationship with their parent charities

  • Data protection:

    • advising on website terms and conditions, privacy policies and notices
    • advising on a collaborative venture and the sharing of personal data
    • advising on a complex subject access request where complaints were made to the Charity Commission and Information Commission’s Office

  • Prior to becoming a solicitor, Victoria was President of Queen Mary, University of London Students' Union and University of London Union where she led on and introduced a new governance structure
  • She was also elected on to a commercial committee of the National Union of Students
