Russell-Cooke litigation partner Francesca Kaye, was elected as the new president of the London Solicitors Litigation Association (LSLA), 6 March 2012. This achievement is rather unique as she becomes their first woman president, in the association's diamond jubilee year (60th year). Francesca will serve a two-year term in office, leading one of the country's key representative groups for litigation lawyers.
The LSLA are seen as the voice of civil and commercial litigators throughout London. They have around 1000 members, which include solicitors from all the major London litigation practices ranging from the sole practitioner to major international firms.
Members of the LSLA Committee sit on the Civil Justice Council, the Civil Rule Committee, The Law Society Civil Litigation Committee, the Commercial Court Users Committee and the Supreme Court Costs Group, to name but a few. As a consequence, the LSLA has become the first port of call for consultation on issues affecting civil and commercial litigation in London, and it has on many occasions been at the forefront of the process of change.
Francesca commented on her election:
"I am honoured and privileged to have been elected as President of the LSLA and look forward to a busy two years promoting and protecting the interests of civil and commercial litigators and their clients in London. This adds to Russell-Cooke's reputation of being at the heart of change in litigation on behalf of solicitors and clients."
Representatives of Russell-Cooke are currently involved in the South London Law Society (SLLS), Surrey Law Society (SLS), City of Westminster and Holborn Law Society (CWHLS) and The Property Litigation Association (PLA).
Francesca's litigation work at Russell-Cooke embraces a broad spectrum of complex commercial litigation. She has been in practice for 21 years, is a commercial mediator and in 2003 became a Deputy District Judge.
