
Russell-Cooke promotes four to legal director
Russell-Cooke is delighted to appoint four new legal directors across its private client, charity law and not-for-profit, and real estate, planning and construction teams.
The roles take effect from 1 July.
The new legal directors will be:
Carly Argent: private client team
Carly has been part of the private client team for 18 years. Carly advises on wills for elderly clients, single people, married couples and civil partners as well as offering advice on lifetime tax planning, business succession planning and inheritance tax mitigation for high-net-worth individuals and lasting powers of attorney. She also acts for executors and trustees on a wide variety of tax, trust succession and estate planning issues. Carly has particular expertise advising on complex wills, estate administration and trust administration.

Lucy Nichol: real estate, planning and construction
Lucy is in the firm’s real estate team. She handles a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions for a broad spectrum of clients from investors and developers to luxury retailers and corporate occupiers. She was recently part of the team advising Bloom/Crosstree on their first acquisition under the joint venture of a business park in West London.

Hardeep Nijher: private client
Hardeep Nijher is in the private client team. He handles the full spectrum of private client work including drafting complex wills, advising on inheritance tax and succession planning and providing support on the administration of trusts. He also assists on the preparation and administration of powers of attorney, and advises on mental capacity issues. Hardeep’s clients include multi-jurisdictional individuals, families, trustees and beneficiaries, many of whom are high-net-worth.

Gareth Roy: charity and not-for-profit
Gareth is in the firm’s charity law and not-for-profit team and trained with the firm. He advises charities and other not-for-profit organisations on a wide range of governance and commercial matters, including establishing new charities, incorporations, mergers, commercial contracts, fundraising, trading and regulatory matters involving the Charity Commission. Gareth acts for a wide range of clients, including various religious organisations and sports clubs. Gareth is a trustee of the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute, founded and chaired by Martin Lewis.

Congratulations to each of our new legal directors on this next step in their careers. Their appointments serve as a significant boost to our private client offering, as well as complement our real estate and charity teams. Each have demonstrated the standout expertise and have strong mentoring and management experience required in this integral role, and I wish them every success going forward.
This role was first established in December 2022. The recent round of appointments brings the cohort to 14.
