Five partners and staff from Russell-Cooke put students to the test in the annual Client Interviewing Competition that was held at Kingston University on Saturday 7th December.
The aim of this annual competition is to promote the development of lawyers' soft skills and to enable law students to practise them at a high level. Law students, working in teams of two, interview and advise a "client", a role-playing actor. The students are judged according to criteria which take into account interpersonal skills as well as their ability to handle a legal problem.
Students from Kingston University, University of Law, Guildford and Surrey University took part and the competition was supported by the Surrey Law Society.
The 2013 winners were Stuart Rose and Hannah Sims of University of Surrey.
As well as the prize offered by Surrey Law Society, Stuart and Hannah were each offered an interview for a training contract with Russell-Cooke.
Russell-Cooke currently has 14 trainees who work across a broad range of legal practice areas from commercial property and litigation through to family and private client. More than forty per cent of our current solicitors (excluding partners) trained at Russell-Cooke.
