Russell-Cooke consultant Camilla Thornton has been included for the first time in the Best Lawyers directory for her work in family law in London. Best Lawyers in the UK 2021 was published on 9 June 2020.

Camilla joins several colleagues who were already listed; partners Jae Carwardine (crime)Jason Hunter (property litigation), Samantha Little (children), Andrew Studd (charities) and James Sinclair Taylor (charities) as well as consultants Deborah Blythe (clinical negligence and personal injury), Peter Dawson (real estate) and Richard Frimston (private client) who were already listed. The award is based on peer review. The Best Lawyers research methodology 'aims to capture the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical and legal practice area'. 

This global directory invites lawyers to nominate practitioners who they think are worthy of inclusion. Once a nominee has received enough positive feedback from their peers, they are awarded a place in the Best Lawyers directory.

Camilla is a consultant in the family team, based in the Bedford Row office. She is a collaborative lawyer and Resolution trained mediator and advises on all aspects of family law including divorce, separation, financial settlements, cohabitation and matters involving children. Her particular expertise lies in advising mid to high-net-worth individuals, including non-residents, on their financial settlements following separation and divorce.

Jae is a partner and head of the fraud and criminal litigation team, with over 20 years experience and with a proven track record in dealing with high-profile cases. She has particular expertise in representing professionals who find themselves accused of criminal matters with potentially career-threatening implications or intrusive media interest.

Listed in The Legal 500 and Chambers UK as a leader in his field, Jason is a partner and head of the property and housing litigation team, specialising in the avoidance or resolution of property disputes (using Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) or litigation). He advises on all areas of property litigation, including landlord and tenant law (residential, mixed use and commercial) and property disputes about boundaries, party walls, restrictive covenants, trespass, rights of way, and rights of light.

Samantha is a partner and head of the children law team, advising clients on all aspects of children law. She is experienced in assisting a range of clients including vulnerable adults and children and handles cases in an empathetic yet practical manner.

Andrew is a partner in the charity and social business team advising charities, social enterprises, trade associations and other membership and not-for-profit organisations on a wide range of charity and company law issues and commercial matters. His expertise include constitutional and governance matters, commercial and service delivery contracts, mergers and incorporations, grant funding arrangements, joint ventures, collaborative working arrangements and reorganisations. 

James works with a wide variety of charities, not for profits, local authorities and government departments. He tends to focus on governance and structure issues including reviews of governance, company group and collaborative structures, Royal Charters, International Federations and other bodies. He has done substantial amounts of work for membership organisations which represent a particular challenge.
