Many charities have been seeking to sell properties in recent months to take advantage of what has been a buoyant market, as they seek to release funds to invest in their charitable mission or to meet ever increasing core costs. The outlook is now much less certain, and trustees are faced with some complex strategic decisions as to whether or not to proceed with or renegotiate planned transactions. However for those with money to invest now may be a unique opportunity to acquire properties on favourable terms.
In this joint webinar speakers from Russell-Cooke and Gerald Eve will consider the key legal and property issues facing charities looking to buy and sell land and buildings, including:
- should I put my property on the market?
- complying with the Charities Act, what are "the best terms that can reasonably be obtained" at the moment?
- preparing property ready for sale
- I exchanged contracts just before lockdown, now the buyer wants to reduce the price and extend the completion date or they will pull out. How should I respond?
- is now really a good time to buy?
We are inviting questions before the event which we will attempt to address during the webinar.
