Silicon Cup Regatta: 25 years of making a difference
The Russell-Cooke Silicon Cup Regatta returns this September, marking a landmark 25th anniversary of the UK’s leading IT sailing event.
Taking place over two days from 16 September 2025, the regatta will once again set sail from the Solent, Portsmouth, bringing together professionals from across the technology sector to raise funds for life-changing charities.
Russell-Cooke is proud to continue as principal sponsor for the third year running, with a team from the firm’s corporate and commercial team also taking to the water to compete.
Since its inception in 2000, the regatta has welcomed over 7,500 competitors and raised more than £1.3 million for charity. Last year’s event alone raised £50k. For the 25th anniversary year, the regatta aims to go even further in support of three long-standing charities: The Genie's Wish, The Andrew Simpson Foundation and the Greig City Academy, along with a new charity partner: The Final Straw Foundation. This strengthens the regatta’s focus on sustainability, a key value it shares with Russell-Cooke and its commitment to being a responsible business.
Participants will enjoy a two-day itinerary which blends sailing, networking and charitable giving. Highlights include a gala dinner in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, alongside fundraising competitions and a lively charity auction.
As The Silicon Cup celebrates its 25th anniversary, we’re proud to be returning as principal sponsor once again. It’s a significant milestone for an event that brings together businesses from across the tech sector to support causes that genuinely make a difference. For us at Russell-Cooke, the Regatta is more than just a corporate event; it’s a unique opportunity to collaborate, connect and give back. Our team is looking forward to being back on the water and championing these brilliant charities.
