Barnardo's, in a blog post published towards the end of last year, shared tips with parents on what the term 'white privilege' means, what it looks like, and how they can talk to children and young people about it.

The blog was met with criticism from a group of Conservative MPs who complained to the Charity Commission that the charity was spreading 'dogma' and called on it to investigate.

The Charity Commission has now announced that it has found the blog to be compatible with Barnardo’s charitable purpose.

Russell-Cooke partner Pippa Garland comments in UK Fundraising that, while the Commission's decision is no surprise, trustees must be careful when engaging in heated social debates as there is a very real cost to "getting caught in the crossfire".

Barnardo’s white privilege blog post did not break rules is free to read on the UK Fundraising website.
