Intellectual property rights and Brexit: what happens on 1 January 2021?
The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020. However the withdrawal agreement has saved most of the effects of the post-Brexit intellectual property regime for the duration of the transition period, which ends on 31 December 2020. After this date, significant changes will occur in relation to numerous IP rights created by EU regulations, including EU trade marks which will no longer be considered to cover the UK.
