International legal services
Trusted legal support for international clients
International work runs across the firm and across practice areas. For many of our clients, international considerations are simply part of how they operate — not a separate or specialist add-on.
We advise a broad range of clients internationally, including:
- Corporates and commercial organisations
- Charities and not-for-profits
- Families, individuals and private clients
Our focus is always on delivering clear, practical advice that reflects each client’s objectives and the legal realities of working across jurisdictions.
International services across the firm
International advice is embedded across our practice areas. Departments with established international offerings include:
French law
Whether you are buying or selling property, inheriting or planning the transfer of your assets, our bilingual experts can assist. Our team of specialists in French law...
Italian law
Our Italian team are experts in Italian law, language and culture, having worked in both Italy and the UK. Members of our Team are dually qualified and registered with both the SRA ...
Spanish law
Our dedicated Spanish team advises Spanish nationals living in the UK, UK nationals living in Spain, and international families with assets in both countries.
How we advise on international matters
Our international work typically falls into two categories:
- English law advice for overseas clients
We regularly provide stand-alone English law advice to non-UK clients, including in areas such as immigration, real estate, corporate and commercial law. - Coordinated cross-border advice
We advise on English law matters that interact with foreign legal systems, particularly in private client, family and disputes work. In these cases, we work closely with overseas advisers to ensure advice is aligned, efficient and effective.
International experience and jurisdictional reach
We have extensive experience advising on cross-border matters involving Europe, the United States, Hong Kong and mainland China.
In addition to this broad international reach, we offer dedicated expertise in key jurisdictions. Our French, Italian and Spanish law services are supported by dual-qualified lawyers who are able to advise directly on local law. We also have a strong and established focus on US-related matters.
A practical, joined-up approach
Our international matters are typically led by English-qualified lawyers with significant experience of working with overseas legal systems. This allows us to advise not only on English law, but on how it operates in practice alongside foreign law.
Where appropriate, our dual-qualified lawyers - particularly in France, Spain and Italy - can provide direct local law advice. This flexible approach ensures clients receive coordinated, commercially focused advice across borders, delivered by the right expertise in each case.
International networks and relationships
We are members of a number of international legal organisations, providing access to trusted advisers worldwide. We are not, however, tied to a single network or referral model.
Alongside these memberships, we maintain strong independent relationships with overseas lawyers, allowing us to recommend advisers based on suitability and experience rather than availability. This keeps our international advice responsive, efficient and client-focused.
What distinguishes our international practice
Clients and referrers value our:
- Depth and breadth of English law expertise
- Extensive practical experience on cross-border matters
- Clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice
- Competitive and transparent pricing
- Agile international networks built on trusted relationships
Our values and approach
Our culture and values underpin how we work internationally. From our commitment to sustainability and the rule of law to our long-standing support for access to justice, clients and referrers know they can expect advice delivered with integrity, collaboration and a long-term perspective.
