Sophie advises individuals on a broad range of property law matters, including possession proceedings, eviction, homelessness, housing disrepair, discrimination claims, landlord and tenant disputes and judicial review challenges. She has over 20 years of experience in civil litigation and housing and has built a reputation for delivering practical advice in complex and sensitive housing cases.
Alongside her legal practice, Sophie is an accredited mediator specialising in civil, commercial and community disputes. She is a strong advocate for the use of mediation to resolve conflict efficiently and constructively, particularly in the housing sector where preserving relationships and achieving practical outcomes can be as important as legal remedies.
Clients value Sophie for her combination of technical expertise, strategic insight and compassionate approach. She works closely with clients to ensure they feel supported, understood and fully involved throughout the process. Sophie is skilled at adapting her approach to individual circumstances and has particular experience in supporting vulnerable clients with sensitivity and empathy.
Prior to joining Russell-Cooke, Sophie spent more than 17 years at a leading law firm, where she progressed from housing solicitor to partner and led on a wide variety of housing disputes. Her experience includes acting for vulnerable tenants, homeless applicants and occupiers facing the loss of their homes, as well as pursuing substantial housing disrepair and unlawful eviction claims.
