Russell-Cooke strengthens charity and not-for-profit team with new partner appointment
Russell-Cooke has appointed Rebecca Fry as a partner in its charity law and not-for-profit team.
Rebecca is a highly respected charity lawyer who advises charities, not-for-profits and social enterprises on the full spectrum of charity law and regulation. With extensive advisory and regulatory experience, Rebecca's background as a senior lawyer at the Charity Commission gives her a unique perspective on the legal and governance challenges facing charities today. Rebecca has played a significant role in shaping modern charity law, leading the Charity Commission's work on the law reform project that resulted in the Charities Act 2022 and, during a secondment to the Law Commission, advising on reforms affecting Royal Charter charities.
Most recently, Rebecca served as Head Judicial Assistant at the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, where she supported the Justices on a wide range of significant appeals and legal issues, including a number of high-profile charity law disputes. She is the co-editor of Landmark Cases in Charity Law.
Rebecca’s practice spans establishing new charities, governance and constitutional matters, commercial and trading arrangements, fundraising, investment, mergers and restructurings, campaigning and political activity, trustees’ duties, engagement with the Charity Commission and charity proceedings.
