John Gould and Michael Stacey update Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents
Russell-Cooke’s Senior Partner John Gould and regulatory partner Michael Stacey have re-written the volume 'Solicitors' within the authoritative Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents (the EF & P) published by Lexis Nexis.
The EF & P is the most important collection of legal precedents in the UK. It currently consists of 90 specialist volumes containing not only expertly drafted precedent documents but also extensive commentary and analysis across the whole range of legal specialisations.
The first edition was published in 17 volumes from 1902 to 1910 and continues to be published, with each volume periodically re-written by acknowledged leaders in their specialist fields. Running to more than 500 pages, the “Solicitors” volume covers the law relating to solicitors and the regulatory framework as well as containing large numbers of precedent documents including, for example, contractual terms and detailed policies relating to anti-money laundering.
The commission arises as a result of Russell-Cooke’s well-established expertise in legal services regulation and the law relating to solicitors generally. Associate Jack Rogers also contributed to the draft and invaluable additional support was provided by executive assistant Alison Dodson. Previously John, supported by Michael, authored the Law of Legal Services and Practice (now in its second edition), described by Lord Neuberger, President of the Supreme Court as authoritative and by Sir Julian Flaux (Chancellor of the High Court) as recommended reading for all legal practitioners.
“We hope that the commentary and analysis provides the clearest, but relatively short, introduction to the law in this area. The EF & P, particularly online, provides a powerful tool for practitioners to ensure that they discharge their duties as efficiently as possible”.
