Participants will gain a solid understanding of the legal framework surrounding design work, along with the tools needed to identify, manage and safeguard their creative output.

• Intellectual property basics — what IP is, how it works and why it matters

• Sources of legal obligations — where rights and responsibilities come from

• Copyright protection — what works are protected and what rights exist

• Ownership rules — who owns the rights and how ownership is determined

• Infringement and defences — what constitutes infringement and what legal defences may apply

• Licensing — how rights can be shared, transferred or commercialised

• BIM considerations — how Building Information Modelling interacts with IP rights

• Remedies and dispute avoidance — practical steps to resolve or prevent conflicts

All participants who complete the training will receive an official certificate of completion, recognising their understanding of designer rights and core intellectual property principles.
