Russell-Cooke has a substantial commercial litigation team of lawyers with specialist expertise in undertaking a broad range of disputes work.
We act for companies, partnerships, LLPs, regulators, public organisations and individuals. Many of our clients have great experience in dealing with complex multi-dimensional cases, and have a sophisticated approach towards conducting their commercial disputes; others may not have been engaged in any form of commercial dispute before.
All our clients can be confident that their disputes will be handled appropriately by a specialist in the relevant field, with the involvement of experienced partners.
Whatever the size and nature of the dispute, we understand that commercial disputes can be expensive for clients, and represent a significant distraction from their business.
A core element of our approach is to enter into long term strategic relationships with our clients, and gain a thorough understanding of their business, culture and practices. This enables us to provide added value to our service, as we can give tailored, proactive, responsive, commercially pragmatic and frequently imaginative advice and strategy, throughout the progress of a dispute.
We understand the importance of providing cost effective, timely advice. Our primary objective is always to achieve the best overall outcome for our clients, and so we aim to resolve matters at as early a stage as possible, whether through litigation, arbitration, adjudication, ADR (including mediation) or through commercial negotiations.
If that is not possible, we have the necessary strength, depth of expertise and resources to handle the largest specialist cases through to trial.
Our "highly professional, efficient and sensible commercial litigation team" has been ranked in The Legal 500 (2021) where we are described as "always on top of the material and 100% engaged in the case, creating a collaborative process with counsel." Our team is especially noted for its "excellent client management, leading to clear and helpful instructions."
Our experience includes:
- alternative dispute resolution
- civil fraud and asset tracing
- commercial contractual disputes
- commercial corporate disputes
- construction disputes
- charity disputes
- disciplinary proceedings
- financial and financial services disputes
- IT and intellectual property disputes
- insurance claims

Charges are usually based on our hourly rates plus administrative charges and disbursements. We will provide you with an initial estimate of your likely legal costs and will update this as your requirements or the circumstances of the work change.
We also have a flexible and innovative approach to litigation funding which enables us to offer our clients, in appropriate cases, a series of funding choices tailored to their particular requirements. For further information please read our commercial litigation funding information sheet.
