Legal advice for startups

Specialist legal advice for new businesses

Supporting startups

Having helped fast-growing businesses for many years, we know it can be difficult to find lawyers who understand your challenges. You may find that some firms take the same approach whoever their client is. We are not like that; we know start-ups and scale-ups, and can provide simple, cost-effective solutions to meet the needs of your growing business.

A dedicated partner for start-ups

Russell-Cooke offers a dedicated legal service to start-ups and scale-ups.

We have worked with numerous start-ups, and understand the challenges and pressures new businesses face, such as keeping control of budgets.

We understand that legal costs are often uncertain as many law firms are reluctant to offer a fixed price. For this reason, many businesses do not obtain formal legal advice at the outset, something which they may later regret. Many problems are more expensive, time-consuming and difficult to deal with later in the life of a business and may even reduce the value of the business. We therefore offer a package of fixed price specialist advice including documents and registrations. Get in touch with us for more information on pricing.

Resources for startups

We regularly share practical insights, updates, and expert commentary tailored to the needs of start-ups and scale-ups. Our news and insights section is designed to keep you informed about the legal and commercial developments that matter most to your business as it grows.

User terms, SAAS and commercial agreements

Any commercial agreement or set of terms is a legal document. but it is also a sales document. It needs to protect you, but it also needs to present well and look good. Any contract or agreement which you issue in your name needs to reflect your approach and, ideally, should be in language that doesn’t need a lawyer to understand it.

We will not try and charge you for reinventing the wheel but we will tell you if a ‘standard’ document is not going to work, and why.

As well as what a document says, you may also need some advice about how you use a contract or set of terms in your business – does the agreement need to be signed? Will an electronic signature work? What’s the best way of making sure we don’t make mistakes when we issue a contract? We can help you answer these questions.
