Partner Ed Cracknell has responded to a reader's question in The Times Home Help feature about a small patch of land that was inadvertently left out of their property purchase. He explains the legal and practical options available when a boundary is incorrectly positioned and outlines considerations for any future sale of the property.

There are a number of ways to resolve boundary issues, including an application to the Land Registry to register a boundary agreement or an application for a determined boundary. There is detail on the Land Registry website about how to do this.
