Russell-Cooke announces three legal assistants completing QWE towards qualification
Russell-Cooke has announced that three of its legal assistants are starting their Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) with the firm as part of their route to qualification as solicitors.
The three legal assistants are Ella Barker in the firm’s personal injury and medical negligence team, Molly Lockhart in the family team, and Oliver Ward in the corporate and commercial team. Molly has been with Russell-Cooke since September 2019, first as an administrative assistant before moving to a legal assistant role. Oliver joined in August 2023 and Ella joined in October 2023.
Qualifying as a solicitor through QWE is an alternative route to a traditional training contract. QWE trainees complete a period of two years of training and undertake their Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). In contrast to a training contract, they do not undertake different seats but remain within their departments for the duration. Russell-Cooke has put in place a training and review programme for QWE trainees and is committed to ensuring that they receive the same quality of training as the training contract.
We are really pleased to have Ella, Molly and Oliver starting as our first group of QWE trainees. All three were exceptional applicants for the new scheme and I am looking forward to working with them to progress the next stage of their legal careers.
This route is available to legal assistants at Russell-Cooke who meet the firm’s qualifying criteria and are successful in an application process.
