High Court grants permission in significant planning judicial review
Crowborough Shield Community Interest Company has been granted permission by the High Court to proceed with a fresh application for judicial review concerning the designation of Crowborough Training Camp for use as asylum accommodation.
The Planning Court granted permission on 20 April 2026, with a final hearing to take place before 31 July 2026. The Court has categorised the case as a significant Planning Court claim.
The claim challenges the lawfulness of the Home Office’s decision‑making process and raises issues concerning planning, environmental compliance, transparency and fairness. The claim is an Aarhus Convention claim, with statutory cost protections applying.
We are delighted that the Court has granted permission for this new claim to proceed. The decision means that our client’s concerns about the lawfulness and transparency of the decision‑making process will now be considered fully by the High Court.
Crowborough Shield is represented by Russell‑Cooke, led by legal director Alix Rejman, working with associate Lui Asquith, under the supervision of partner Michael Stacey.
